Today, Apple updated its line of 12-inch MacBook with Intel’s latest sixth generation SkyLake processors, faster flash storage, better performance, longer battery life and a new Rose Gold color option. It also comes with Intel HD Graphics 515 that is capable of providing better graphics performance. Additionally, Apple has made 8 GB RAM the standard memory across all configurations of the 13-inch Macbook Air.
The new processors allow MacBook to have an extra hour of battery life, which can now last up to 11 hours. Additionally, they can be can be clocked at up to 1.3GHz and can reach speeds of 3.1GHz through Turbo Boost. As for the new graphics, they can provide 25% faster performance compared to the previous models.
The external design of the MacBook remains unchanged with the same edge-to-edge keyboard, 12-inch display, thin casing and a single USB port like its predecessor. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with support for Thunderbolt 3, as some rumors had suggested.
With the addition of a new color option, it means that the MacBook now comes in the same color options as iOS devices: Gold, Silver, Space Gray and Rose Gold. The refreshed line starts at the same price like before, which is $1,299, and will be made available from tomorrow.
“MacBook is the thinnest and lightest Mac we have ever made and it’s our vision for the future of the notebook,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Customers are going to love this update to MacBook, with the latest processors, faster graphics, faster flash storage, longer battery life and a beautiful rose gold finish.”
The pricing starts from $1,299 and can go up to $1,599. The $1,299 Retina MacBook model comes with 8 GB of RAM, 1.1 GHz Intel Core M3 processor and 256 GB of storage whereas the $1,599 model sports 8 GB of RAM, faster Intel Core M5 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz AND 512 GB of storage.
The new MacBooks will be made available for order starting tomorrow from the Apple Online Store as well as Apple Retail Stores and authorized resellers.
