We have an exciting news for those of you who have been following the jailbreak scene closely. Luca Todesco, who developed the Yalu jailbreak, made an announcement earlier today on Twitter regarding the possibility of an iOS 10.2 jailbreak.
In the tweet, he mentions that in order to fix the issues in the iOS 10.1 jailbreak, he will have to add support for iOS 10.2. From this statement, it seems that some of the issues present in the iOS 10.1 – iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak can only be fixed with iOS 10.2, which is why the hacker is planning to update the jailbreak to add support for iOS 10.2. He didn’t go into much detail as to what exactly the issues are and how iOS 10.2 helps in fixing them.
However, the bad news is that it will not work with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. For these models, the jailbreak will only support iOS 10.1 – iOS 10.1.1. If you own either of these devices, then it’s best that you stay on iOS 10.1 or iOS 10.1.1 and avoid upgrading to the latest iOS firmware. As for other iPhone users, you should also avoid updating to iOS 10.2 until Luca releases the next update with support for this firmware.
Until a few days back, Luca was stating that he had no plans to work on an iOS 10.2 jailbreak, but his recent tweet gives us hopes that we may soon see a jailbreak for this firmware. This is a great news for users, including myself, who missed the chance to update to iOS 10.1.1 and jailbreak while Apple was still signing the firmware.
