The Messages app in iOS 10 has received a lot of new exciting features such as screen effects, large Emojis, link previews and the much awaited sticker packs. There’s also a Handwriting mode that not many users know about.
As the name implies, Handwriting mode allows you to draw anything with your fingers on a white canvas and send it to your friends. This sounds like an interesting feature, but it is also annoying because every time that you rotate your device to landscape orientation, the keyboard switches to Handwriting mode.

How to Disable Handwriting Mode on iPhone
Step 1: Open the Messages app and go to a specific conversation.
Step 2: Rotate your iPhone to landscape orientation to enable Handwriting mode.
Step 3: A white canvas appears where you can draw anything on it with your fingers. Tap on the keyboard icon in the bottom right corner.
Handwriting mode will now be disabled and the white canvas will no longer appear when your iPhone is in landscape orientation. Instead, your default stock or third-party keyboard will appear.
How to Enable Handwriting Mode in iOS 10 Messages App
Step 1: To enable Handwriting mode, go to the Messages app and open a specific conversation.
Step 2: Tap on the message text field to view the keyboard.
Step 3: Switch to the stock iOS keyboard. You have to keep on tapping the globe icon until the stock iOS keyboard is opened.
Step 4: You’ll see an icon in the bottom right corner of the keyboard that denotes handwriting mode. Tap on it.
Step 5: A white canvas appears which means that Handwriting mode has been enabled. Now every time that you rotate your device to landscape orientation while in Messages, this canvas will appear.
