Here’s how you can set the privacy of WhatsApp Status / Stories and choose who gets to view it.
WhatsApp has started to rollout a new feature called WhatsApp Status that is quite similar to Snapchat Stories. This new feature allows you to share your current status with the help of photos and videos, which will be visible to all of your WhatsApp contacts.
One of the common concerns of using this feature is who gets to see it. Luckily, you can set the privacy of your WhatsApp Status (or Stories) very easily and make it visible to a select number of people. In this tutorial, we will show you how to do it.
How to Set the Privacy of WhatsApp Status / Stories
Step 1: Open WhatsApp and tap on the Status tab.
Step 2: On this screen, you’ll find a Privacy button. Tap on it to open.
Step 3: Here you’ll find the privacy settings of your WhatsApp Status. By default, it is set to My Contacts which means that all of your contacts can view it. If you wish to change this, you can choose either of the remaining two options:
- My Contacts Except: Enabling this option shares your WhatsApp Status with all of your contacts except the people that you select not to see
- Only Share With: This option shares your WhatsApp status only with the contacts that you’ve chosen
Step 4: Choose the privacy setting that you want to enable.
That’s all you need to do to set the privacy setting of your WhatsApp Status. If you’d like to change the setting, simply go back to the same Privacy page and change it from there.
WhatsApp Status isn’t available to everyone at the moment, but in the coming days, it will be rolled out to majority of the users.
